How to Get a Medical Marijuana Card in Florida.
1 BOOK AN APPOINTMENT.
Schedule and attend your appointment with your physician. If you are younger than 18 or terminal, a second physician must concur and this determination must be reflected in the patient’s medical records. Provide basic medical history and book your appointment with a licensed medical marijuana doctor.
Do not hesitate to reach out if you need assistance with getting an appointment set, our team would be more than happy to help.
2 CONSULT WITH A MMJ DOCTOR.
Consult with a doctor for 10-15 minutes to evaluate your ailments, and ask any questions you may have about medical marijuana treatment. If you are approved, your physician will enter your information into the Medical Marijuana Use Registry. If you have a caregiver, they must also be added to the registry.
Every patient will need to prove Florida residency for their application to be accepted by the state of FL.
3 GET APPROVED.
Once you are approved and registered with Florida’s Medical Marijuana Use Registry, you’ll wait for your card to come in the mail in 2-3 weeks. Once the card comes, you can begin purchasing marijuana legally from any dispensary in Florida.
Medical marijuana cards in Florida are only valid for 210 days and must be re-certified every 70 days or your card will be made invalid. There is no additional fee for a 70-day re-certification within the same year. A doctor can consult with you online through our platform to make sure your card stays valid. However, you will need to book an entirely new appointment and incur the fee to renew your card after the 210 total days have lapsed. We advise you to have this appointment prior to your card expiring so that your card does not go inactive.

Cannabis in the State of Florida.
The Florida Marijuana Legalization Initiative (Initiative #22-05) awaits review by the state Supreme Court. Despite opposition from groups like the Drug-Free America Foundation and Florida Chamber of Commerce, legalizing recreational use may generate substantial tax revenues and has widespread support following the success of the state’s medical cannabis program. The amendment is anticipated to appear on the November 2024 ballot, with observers expecting it to surpass the required 60% voter approval threshold.
Since the Sunshine State legalized medical cannabis in 2016, more than 656,000 Florida residents see relief from debilitating symptoms from underlying conditions.
Since 2016, the state’s medical cannabis program has expanded to give patients more freedom as to how they choose to consume their cannabis.
In 2019, Governor Ron DeSantis signed SB-182 into law, officially legalizing smokable medical marijuana. SB-182, the Medical Use of Marijuana act, redefines the term “medical use” to include the possession, use and administration of marijuana in a form for smoking.
Also called Amendment 2, this legislation puts raw flower on the list of available medical cannabis products from Florida dispensaries, including edibles, concentrates, low-THC cannabis flower, topicals, and vapes.
2022 Florida Statutes outline the most recent guidance for the state’s medical cannabis program. Under these Florida medical marijuana laws, patients may only purchase edibles and other marijuana products that are produced and dispensed by a medical marijuana treatment center (MMTC).
