Every Kief Thief is handmade in Eugene, Oregon from high quality materials, so you know it is built to last. Don’t settle for labor intensive sift boxes or for similar products made cheaply overseas with many plastic parts. The Kief Thief is the only kief tumbler on the market exclusively made with stainless steel designed for quick and easy collection.
The KT-100 sifter drum accommodates processing anywhere from 1 gram to over a pound of material in a single run. The Model KT-4000 is capable of processing over 40 pounds per cycle run. The Kief Thief is designed to gently separate the trichomes, or plant resins, from your desired starting material without altering or damaging the delicate properties of those resins. On average, our kief tumbler produces a yield of 10% to 25% depending on the starting material.
The Kief Thief is comprised of three basic components:
Chassis and Motor.
Of commercial grade construction, the stainless steel chassis is built for a lifetime of use. The American-made, high-efficiency gear reduction motor turns at the perfect RPM and is designed continuously. The Kief Thief model KT-100 requires a properly installed and grounded 120 volt outlet with a functioning 10 AMP breaker. The Kief Thief model KT-400o requires a properly grounded and dedicated 240 volt circuit connected to a 20 Amp breaker.
Sifter Drum.
The sifter drum is comprised of a 316 stainless steel mesh screen, tension rods and a stainless steel access cap and bearing shaft. Individual sifter drums are available for purchase. Having multiple sifter drums allows for seamless back to back runs without the need to wait to empty and clean the previously used sifter drum.
Dust Cover.
The Stainless steel dust cover keeps contaminates out while also catching the resins which do not collect at the bottom of the chassis.
Overview of Solventless Extraction with The Kief Thief.

Using the kief tumbler is very easy. First, use an alcohol solution and lint free towel to clean the collection area of the chassis and the inside of the inspection cover to remove dust and any contaminants. Next, carefully insert your plant material into the sifter drum making sure to wear rubber gloves so as to not contaminate the micron mesh of the sifter drum with skin oils. Re-install the sifter drum on the chassis, slide the inspection cover into place and turn on the tumbler.
The time necessary for extraction will depend on the amount and quality of the material being processed. We recommend running the kief tumbler for at least 30 minutes and as much as 48 hours. Determining the optimal amount of time to produce maximum yield will be something you will need to experiment with to determine. In general, the drier and finer the material is ground prior to running through the Kief Thief, the higher the yield.
Now it’s time to collect the kief. Turn the machine off and remove the inspection cover placing it upside down. Most of the kief will collect at the bottom of the chassis, but some will stick to the sifter drum and dust cover. Using a fresh business card or piece of stock paper, wipe the sides of the dust cover and sifter drum. Then, carefully remove the sifter drum and place it upright on a clean surface. Now, you have access to the bottom of the chassis to collect the kief and move it to storage.
Cleaning the Kief Thief once you have collected your yield is super easy. First, use a BPA free plastic bag to cover the sifter drum and turn it upside down to expunge the spent and sifted material (this material can be used for a variety of purposes such as cooking, tinctures or composting). You can then clean the sifter drum while wearing rubber gloves using either a soft-bristled silicone brush or compressed air.
If the kief tumbler is contaminated, you can spray it with a solution of 50% to 95% alcohol. The chassis and inspection cover should also be wiped with the alcohol solution. Once everything has dried, you can reassemble the Kief Thief to start the process over again!
